Arc Raiders quests can sometimes send you all over the place, pushing you to travel between multiple maps and complete layered objectives before you can turn them in. Thankfully, A Bad Feeling is much more straightforward. The task is simple: Open an Arc Probe or an Arc Courier. That’s it. But tracking one down is another story if you’re not sure what you’re looking for. Below, we’ll walk you through exactly where to find Arc Probes and Arc Couriers—and what kind of loot you can expect when you crack them open.
From time to time, you might actually witness an Arc Probe descending from the sky. Keep an eye out for something that resembles a small rocket streaking downward before embedding itself in the ground. When they land this way, they remain standing upright. That said, these freshly dropped probes aren’t the most common version you’ll encounter. More often than not, Arc Probes are already lying tipped over on their sides when you discover them.
No matter how they spawn, there’s an easy way to track them: sound. Arc Probes emit distinctive electronic bleeps and bloops every few seconds, and you can hear these noises from a decent distance away. If you’re exploring an area and pick up on those mechanical tones, start scanning your surroundings carefully.
Arc Probes spawn in randomized locations across every map, but they appear far more frequently during the Electromagnetic Storm map event. If that condition is active, one especially reliable spot is the roof of the Testing Annex on the Dam Battlegrounds map. During the storm, it’s possible to find two or even three probes clustered there at the same time. This makes it an efficient farming location—particularly if you’re working on an “Open Arc Probes” weekly trial and want to stack progress quickly.
Another event to watch for is Prospecting Probes. When you’re selecting a map, hover your cursor over it to see whether this event is active. Prospecting Probes can appear on every map except Stella Montis, and when it’s live, Arc Probes are scattered generously across the area. In this state, finding them becomes significantly easier, and you should have no trouble locating as many as you need to complete your objective.
As for rewards, Arc Probes usually contain crafting-focused materials such as Arc Alloy, Arc Circuitry, and Arc Motion Cores. These components are essential if you’re investing heavily in crafting gear and upgrading your loadout. If crafting is a core part of your progression strategy, opening Arc Probes is absolutely worthwhile. Otherwise, the contents may feel a bit underwhelming compared to other high-value loot sources.
Arc Couriers function similarly to Arc Probes in terms of spawning behavior. They appear in randomized locations throughout each map and can be identified by the black smoke they emit. Just like Probes, they’re noticeably easier to locate during the Electromagnetic Storm map condition, when container-based spawns tend to increase.
While their exact spawn points vary from raid to raid, the Red Lakes area on the eastern side of Dam Battlegrounds has consistently proven to be a productive location. If you’re actively hunting for Couriers, that’s a strong place to begin your search.
The loot inside Arc Couriers can be especially important for progression. In particular, you’ll want to look for Surveyor Vaults and Sentinel Firing Cores. These materials are required for crafting certain workbenches and advancing your base development. The only alternative way to obtain these items is by eliminating Surveyors or Sentinels—both of which spawn in limited numbers per map. Because of that, opening Arc Couriers can often be a more efficient method than repeatedly farming those enemies.
Be cautious, however. Whether you’re breaching a Probe or a Courier, there’s always a risk involved. Opening these containers can sometimes trigger an immediate Arc enemy drop, including hornets or wasps. If you’re low on ammo or caught out in the open, this sudden ambush can quickly turn into a dangerous situation.
Once you’ve successfully opened either an Arc Probe or an Arc Courier, you’ll be able to return to Speranza and turn in the A Bad Feeling quest. Of course, this objective is just one small step in your broader topside journey. There are plenty more challenges waiting as you continue progressing through Arc Raiders.
