As you start to feel more comfortable with the hostile world of ARC Raiders and head out on additional topside runs, you’ll begin unlocking more trader quests along the way. These missions can range from very straightforward objectives, like taking down a handful of enemies, to more involved tasks that require you to travel to specific locations and interact with certain objects. One such mission revolves around locating an Arc Probe, and it introduces players to some of the more dangerous interactive elements found out in the field.
A Bad Feeling is one of these location-based quests and is among the earliest assignments you’ll receive from Celeste. You won’t get access to it immediately, as you’ll need to complete a few introductory quests first. Once unlocked, the goal is simple on paper: find and search either an Arc Probe or an Arc Courier during a raid to complete the mission.

The Arc Probe is generally the easier of the two objectives to track down, and chances are you’ve already passed by one without realizing what it was. An Arc Probe appears as a tall, missile-like structure that drops into the map at a random location shortly after the raid begins, much like an airdrop. You may occasionally see one falling from the sky, but relying on visuals alone isn’t the most reliable way to find it.
The most consistent way to locate an Arc Probe is by listening carefully. These structures emit a distinct directional sound every few seconds, with each pulse lasting roughly two seconds. If you hear a repetitive, computerized noise at regular intervals, stop and pay attention to where it’s coming from, as it will usually lead you straight to an Arc Probe. In some cases, an Arc Probe may already be lying horizontally on the ground, often with smoke venting from it.
Tip: If the probe has landed on the ground instead of standing upright, it behaves very similarly to the Arc Courier described below.
While the Arc Probe is easier to detect, it comes with significantly higher risk. Breaching it triggers a constant, loud noise that can be heard from far away, even louder than the sound produced by an Arc Courier. The breaching process itself also takes quite a while to complete. The upside is that once you begin breaching an Arc Probe, your progress won’t reset if you move away or stop interacting with it. After successfully breaching the Arc Probe, simply search it to complete the A Bad Feeling quest.

The Arc Courier can be more challenging to locate compared to an Arc Probe, but it’s generally safer to loot once you find it. To spot one, keep an eye out for thick black smoke rising into the air, similar to what you see after destroying other Arc machines. The key difference is that the smoke from an Arc Courier is much heavier and more noticeable. When you reach the source, you’ll find a UFO-like structure resting on the ground.
Wide open areas, such as open fields or shallow streams, are the best places to search for an Arc Courier, as the smoke plume is much easier to spot from a distance. However, attempting to breach one in an open area also increases the risk of being seen and shot by other players. Once you successfully breach and search the Arc Courier, the A Bad Feeling quest will be marked as complete, just like with an Arc Probe.
