Dark And Darker: How To Kill Lich King?
Lich is one of the bosses you can currently face in Dark and Darker. If you enter the Inferno stage via a Red Portal, you will either encounter Lich or Ghost King at the center of the map. The boss you face is entirely random, so be prepared to take on either one. If the fight is too overwhelming, don’t hesitate to retreat and try again later.
But don’t worry—We got you covered with a detailed guide on the Lich King. Hopefully, this helps dungeon crawlers get ready for the challenge ahead.
Prepare
Our team found the Lich King easier to handle compared to the Ghost King. However, his attack patterns can be unpredictable, so staying on guard is crucial.
Class Selection
We opted for a Barbarian, Ranger, and Cleric setup, but this fight can be tackled with any class combination. There have even been instances of the Lich King being taken down by just two players without a Cleric. Having a Cleric is always beneficial for extra healing, but it’s not an absolute necessity.
You don’t need exceptionally high-end gear unless you’re tackling High Roller bosses. In High Roller lobbies, bosses have increased health and deal more damage, but their mechanics remain unchanged. The upside is that Dark and Darker Gold and unique gear drop at higher rates in these encounters.
Potion Of Protection
Using the Potion of Protection frequently during the fight is a great strategy. While the Lich King deals magic damage that the potion cannot block, he is accompanied by six Skeleton Guards that deal physical damage. This makes the Potion of Protection quite valuable in this battle.
Different potion levels can be stacked. Using two identical potions will only refresh the effect, but combining different levels of Healing Potions allows for faster healing. This also applies to the Potion of Protection.
Campfires
If you have a Cleric or Wizard in your team, bringing campfires is highly recommended. These will help replenish spells before engaging the boss. Additionally, purchasing Skeleton Skin from the shop grants an extra 10 magic resistance, which can be quite useful for boss fights.
Pavise Start
Since the Lich King remains mostly stationary at the center of the room, we had our Cleric throw Fire Bottles and Gas Lanterns at him to add extra DPS. However, this strategy may make it harder for melee classes to land hits, so use it cautiously.
Having a Ranger or Fighter with a shield is particularly useful. Before engaging the boss, send them in alone to place a Pavise on the ground. Ensure the shield is positioned facing the boss, then exit the room to reset.
Afterward, remove any unnecessary hot bar items, activate your Potion of Protection, and have your Cleric apply buffs before the team enters.
Archers & Skeletons
The Lich King is accompanied by three Archers and Shield Skeletons. They are slightly tougher than regular Skeletons. If possible, eliminate at least three Archers quickly. While the Lich King will resurrect these Skeletons during the battle, killing them early triggers a cooldown, making it worth the effort.
These Skeletons don’t pose a major threat and mainly serve as distractions for the boss’s attacks. If you didn’t place a Pavise before the fight, keeping some Skeletons alive can help block the Lich King’s Orb attack. The Orb attack locks onto a player and follows them until it collides with an obstacle. It deals significant damage upon impact, so be sure to run and avoid dragging it onto teammates.
Bolt Attack
The Lich King continuously fires Magic Bolts at players, which can deal considerable damage. However, these can be dodged easily by circling the boss or strafing left and right. Constant movement is essential to avoid Bolts, as well as attacks from Archers and Skeletons.
It’s best to stick together as a group and move in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction around the boss. This positioning is important because the Lich King casts a curse that marks a player with a purple or blue circle on the ground.
Circle Mark
The purple circle requires all team members to stack together to evenly distribute the damage. This reduces the impact of the attack, making it manageable. Staying too close to the boss can be risky, but if you position yourself well, stacking near the Skeletons and Lich King can minimize the damage significantly.
The blue circle works the opposite way—damage is multiplied based on the number of players or Skeletons within it. If a player is marked with a blue circle, they must immediately run away from both teammates and Skeletons to minimize damage.
If you have enough time and the situation allows, there’s a Resurrection Shrine located just west of the boss room where you can revive fallen allies.
That’s about it! Hopefully, these tips and strategies will help you tackle the Lich King successfully. Good luck on your dungeon runs!
