The first-ever Auto Rifle that uses special ammo is something nobody expected to see. Today, we’re diving into how to get Choir of One Destiny 2, an exotic weapon that delivers absurd damage output and is already strong enough that many players expect a nerf sooner rather than later.
If you want to secure choir of one as fast as possible while it remains at the top of the meta, you can simply buy Choir of One Auto Rifle at Gamer Choice. This is the quickest method to obtain the weapon. Otherwise, you’ll have to learn how to complete the mission on your own—without any map markers, objective arrows, or built-in guidance. The mission also hides several puzzles, and figuring them out can take far longer than expected. Instead of spending hours navigating blind, let Gamer Choice handle the hard part so you can enjoy this incredible weapon before the first-ever special ammo auto rifle gets tuned down.
If you didn’t manage to claim choir of one before Edge of Fate launched, there is a workaround that many players report still functions. Completing the Encore exotic mission from the Portal with an A-rating (which requires Advanced difficulty) can reward the weapon. Just make sure you pick up every drop from every enemy along the way—it should eventually drop. The catalyst follows the same method.

The first step toward unlocking choir of one is gaining access to Encore. You must finish Acts 1 and 2 of the episode that began after The Final Shape. When those missions are complete, speak to Failsafe v2.1, who will hand you the quest A Rising Chorus. She has overridden the Conductor’s security systems and is ready to direct you toward the stronghold buried within Nessus. You’ll need to explore the Conductor’s domain and uncover the hidden technology inside.
Afterward, you’ll be able to pick up Encore: Overture at the War Table in the H.E.L.M. Its objective reads: “Face the Conductor’s compelled Vex at the center of Nessus.”
Two difficulties exist—regular and expert—though the regular option is recommended for your first attempt so you can learn the mission mechanics and puzzles at a reasonable pace.
You will eventually run the expert version of the choir of one exotic mission to earn the catalyst. Now let’s walk you through the Encore mission from start to finish.

Now that you understand how to acquire choir of one exotic Auto Rifle, it’s time to gather a fireteam and take down the boss. As soon as the mission starts, you’ll spawn in an open zone with no indicators of where to go. You must explore freely until you locate the correct path.

At the end of the traversal section, you’ll encounter the mission’s primary mechanic—Vex nodes. These objects resemble large pots. You must locate buffs (modules) somewhere in the room or by killing specific enemies, then insert those modules into nodes to unlock the way forward.
The first node cannot be used yet. Move past it until you find another node containing a green Vex Module. Take the module (displayed as a buff) and insert it into the central node. This creates a temporary floor that lets you reach the far side, where a Vex conflux and three crimson diamonds appear.
To clarify: nodes = pots, buffs = modules. Call them whatever you like—the mechanic is the same.
Continue retrieving modules and placing them into nodes until you unlock the second conflux.
Eventually, you’ll discover one yellow node and one green node. To obtain the yellow buff, defeat the nearby Minotaur. Dunk the yellow module into the yellow node to remove a barrier, allowing you to grab and deposit the last green module.
Return to the now-open door marked by the three diamonds. Move ahead and pick up another green buff from the pedestal. Once you do, a deadly red wall will begin chasing you. You must return to the very first node you encountered at the start of the puzzle.
Enemies will spawn in your way, but don’t waste time killing everything. Clear just enough to run safely—if you try to eliminate every foe, the red wall will catch you.
Insert the module into that first node to create a bridge leading to the next area of the mission.

The next major section mixes traversal with module collecting. When you run into Vex, keep defeating them until one drops the yellow buff known as Vex Module // PARTITION. Deposit it into the yellow node to open a wall and gain access to a room containing several teleports.
Inside, you’ll also discover a new cyan buff—Vex Module // ACCESS. Dunking this into a node activates one of the portals. Use the active portal to reach an arena containing the green module and empty cyan nodes.

Do not pick up the green module yet. Instead, wait for a cyan buff to spawn. Grab it, deposit it into the node on the right, and activate the portal that sends your team back to the first room. Pick up the cyan buff you stored earlier, take it back through the portal, and use it to open what we consider the “main” portal.
The goal here is simple: activate all portals while managing a limited number of cyan buffs.
When you pass through the main portal, collect the green buff and place it into the empty pot within the circular room. This forms a bridge leading to another portal. Head back through the previous portal, retrieve a cyan buff, and deposit it into the pot that activates the final portal. Going through it transports you into the boss arena.

In this sequence, your fireteam must defeat a Subjugator and a Tormentor—one at a time—before eventually fighting both together. Precision weapons are extremely helpful for consistently damaging their weak points.
Each boss drops a cyan module once its health reaches a threshold. Grab the module to activate the portal to the next arena and repeat the process. When both bosses reach their final phase, you’ll face them simultaneously. Defeat them to earn a loot chest and follow the portal that appears to reach the last section of the mission.

Passing through the portal places you in a short traversal zone packed with Vex. Clear them out and continue until you see two portals leading to the Exo testing area. You must listen to the dialogue before the encounter begins, giving your fireteam a moment to regroup.
The Parodos, Choral Mind fight begins with standard add clearing. A Vex Minotaur drops the green buff (the Connection Module). Insert it into the nearby pot to spawn a bridge that leads to a conflux. The boss then shifts to one side of the arena.
Take the green module and insert it into the pot closest to the boss’s platform. This forms a large platform with a capture zone. Stand on it to spawn an orb—shoot it to break the boss’s shield and begin dealing damage.
After reducing Parodos to two-thirds health, he summons immovable death walls and more adds. Continue damaging the boss until he teleports away. Once he disappears, defeat Minotaurs to obtain cyan buffs, activate the portal, and leap to the final platform for the killing blow.
When Parodos falls, the mission is complete—and you’ll earn the choir of one exotic from the chest that appears.
Because choir of one is craftable, you can choose from multiple perks and traits. However, these options must first be unlocked through specific puzzles.
This section explains how to unlock the choir of one catalyst and all optional components used to create your personalized version of the weapon.
To access these upgrades, you must complete Encore on Expert difficulty and locate the hidden weekly chests inside the mission. As usual, these chests rotate weekly, meaning you must revisit the mission repeatedly until you’ve opened them all.
You’ll also need to progress the seasonal storyline and the Choir of One quest A Rising Chorus, which includes tasks such as locating boxes in Lost Sectors or eliminating Vex across various activities.
Completing the entire questline upgrades Failsafe and unlocks EXO Prototype #314, granting the Conductor’s Imprint Codes. These codes unlock a new hub within Encore, enabling access to the deeper puzzle layers.
Finally, grab the catalyst quest Choir: Eternal from Banshee-44. It requires you to open the first secret chest and complete the mission on Expert difficulty.

Advance through the traversal section until you reach the first green node. Just beyond it is a room unlocked by the “Specimen” quest. Inside, activate the conflux to spawn four cubes overhead. One cube is highlighted by a white orb beneath it. Shoot that cube, then shoot the next cube marked by the orb. The orb indicates the correct order. A second wave of cubes appears—repeat the pattern to reveal the first secret chest.

Proceed normally until you encounter the first cyan buff. Right before it is a planetary piston and a conflux that opens a portal leading back to the room where you found the first chest.
One of the portals will now be active. Enter it to reach the first puzzle room, where a conflux activates faint white lines that trace paths toward multiple Vex disks. Destroy each disk quickly to spawn the second secret chest and unlock the Command Frame 2 upgrade.

Return to the mission using the portal and move forward until you reach the dialogue section. There you’ll activate another conflux, opening a portal into a room containing crimson diamonds and multiple portals. Insert cyan modules into the pots to activate specific portals, then enter them to destroy purple diamonds in segmented rooms.
Each destroyed diamond makes two others vulnerable. Follow the paths, activate the correct portals, and repeat until every diamond has been eliminated. Doing so spawns the third and final secret chest, which rewards the first exotic catalyst—Subsistence Refit.
In the coming weeks, we’ll update this Destiny 2 choir of one catalyst guide with instructions on obtaining the remaining catalysts: Destabilizing Rounds and Onslaught.
You can earn Choir of One by finishing the Encore exotic mission for the first time, and it counts regardless of which difficulty you choose.
There are three catalysts available, each unlocked by completing the rotating weekly puzzles inside the Encore exotic mission:
Since Choir of One is still relatively new, its ideal roll may shift over time. For now, the strongest recommended setup includes:
At the moment, Choir of One is exceptionally strong—borderline overpowered—making it one of the top-performing exotics in the current meta.
Choir of One stands as the first-ever auto rifle powered by special ammo and is currently the strongest gun in Destiny 2 due to its outrageous damage potential. Whether you complete Encore yourself or purchase fast, secure assistance from Gamer Choice, you should get choir of one as soon as possible before any balance changes arrive.
Encore also reveals fascinating lore tied to the Vex invasion, Failsafe, and several narrative threads. We highly recommend experiencing the mission at least once, especially since unlocking custom parts for choir of one requires mastering the Expert version.
