The Final Shaper is shaping up to be Destiny 2’s most thrilling expansion yet, with its raid, Salvation’s Edge, intricately woven into the main campaign. Players must ascend the spire in the Pale Heart and face the Witness head-on. This raid stands out as the game’s toughest yet, featuring intricate mechanics and intense challenges. Below is a concise guide to each encounter and their respective mechanics.
Encounter 1: Substrate
Part 1: Slaying Adds
In this encounter, teams should split into two groups of three. One player begins by grabbing the yellow pyramid energy in the center of the room, activating two doors and starting the “Final Shape Looming” timer. Each team must immediately tackle one of the two rooms before the timer runs out to avoid a raid wipe.
Inside the rooms, players must eliminate specific enemies to progress. Initially, both teams will encounter an orange bar Minotaur, followed by a Hydra. After these enemies are defeated, proceed to a room with an Overload Champion.
Once the Champion is defeated, all players should return to the central room to face a Tormentor. After defeating the Tormentor, teams must return to their respective rooms, repeat the process with another Overload Champion, and then return to the central room to fight another Tormentor. Completing these cycles will allow players to advance.
For clarity, here’s a quick sequence of tasks:
- Enter a side room with your team.
- Defeat all adds and Hydras.
- Move to the next room to eliminate the Overload Champion.
- Return to the central room to defeat the Tormentor.
- Repeat this process until the encounter is complete.
Part 2: Plates, Conductors, and Resonance
After the two Tormentors are defeated, a glowing plate will appear in the first Overload Champion room. One player stands near the glowing plate while another prepares at a second plate marked by a black monolith. The first player triggers the plate, sending energy to the second plate. The second player sends the energy back by stepping on their plate when a light circle appears in the center.
Ping-ponging this energy spawns Pyramid Resonances, critical for progression. Plate players should continue this process until a message states, “All resonance has been pulled forth.” Players must collect at least two or three Resonances each. After gathering Resonances, one plate runner closes both plates by shooting the glowing center of the black monolith while holding two Resonances.
Once both plates are closed, everyone returns to the central room to defeat the Subjugator. Pyramid Resonances are deposited into a box to extend the “Final Shape Looming” timer. Repeat this process three more times to complete the encounter.
Encounter 2: Herald of Finality
Part 1: Plates and Stolen Favor
Equip Swords for maximum DPS, with at least one player using the Ergo Sum sword with Wolfpack Rounds and Heartshadow for Weaken application. The team splits into three groups of two, each covering plates on the left, right, and center.
This encounter features similar plate mechanics to the first but introduces a second Resonance type: Spherical Resonance. Begin by shooting the Taken Blight, spawning orange bar Knights and yellow bar Trammels. Defeat these enemies, and the “Call to Reckoning” buff will appear for one player per side. Buff holders move to the boss arena to destroy large Blights and expose the Herald’s weak spot. Breaking the weak spot grants the “Stolen Favor” buff.
Part 2: Reading Black Monoliths with Stolen Favor
Players with Stolen Favor return to their respective monoliths. The monolith shows a Resonance type (Sphere or Pyramid). The buff holder grabs the opposite Resonance, while the other plate player picks up the same Resonance. The correct Resonance holder then shoots the monolith to close the plates.
Complete all three monoliths to trigger the message, “The resonance conductor sparks to life,” initiating the DPS phase.
Part 3: DPS Phase
Deposit Resonances at the altar to extend the DPS phase duration. Use Swords to deal damage to the boss while avoiding its attacks. When the boss becomes immune, return to your plates and repeat the process. During the final stand, focus all resources on damage while managing adds in the arena.
Encounter 3: Repository
Part 1: Plates, Resonance, and Stolen Favor
Familiar plate mechanics return, now with two additional Resonance types: Cube (Square) and Tetrahedron (Diamond). Three pairs of plates and monoliths appear in each arena. Players with Stolen Favor must coordinate with Resonance holders to activate monoliths by shooting them with the correct Resonance.
Part 2: Opening the Door
Activating all monoliths spawns an altar. Clear Scorpio turrets before depositing Resonances to summon an Unstoppable Champion. Defeating the Champion and all other adds opens the door to the next arena. Repeat this process twice more to finish the encounter.
Encounter 4: Verity
Note 1: Transmog
Unique armor sets are essential for this encounter due to player statues involved in the mechanics. Distinctive armor and Ghost shells help differentiate teammates.
Note 2: Callout Legend
Inside players will use shorthand callouts for shapes:
- Square = S
- Triangle = T
- Circle = C
Note 3: Witness Mechanic
Periodically, the Witness “kill” players in the inside realm. Outside players revive them by placing their Ghosts on specific pedestals, as communicated by the inside team.
Part 1: Inside Players
Inside players identify shapes on statues, kill Knights for buffs, and deposit two shapes not matching their statue’s displayed shape to free themselves.
Part 2: Outside Players
Outside players manipulate statues to create 3D shapes opposite to the inside players’ indicated shapes. Once all statues are correctly aligned, the next mechanic begins.
Part 3: Fake “Wipe”
The Witness “kill” mechanic repeats, requiring proper Ghost placement to revive the team. Complete this cycle three times to finish the encounter.
Final Encounter: The Witness
Part 1: Destroying Arms
The Witness’ arms display shapes (Circle, Triangle, Square) and colors (Yellow, Green, Red). Players gather Resonances from attack zones matching the arm’s displayed traits and destroy the arm.
Part 2: “The Witness Tests You…”
The Witness spawns Darkness objects in a grid. Players create the shape of the destroyed arm by shooting specific objects while avoiding unnecessary ones.
Part 3: DPS Phase
Destroy chest buttons to start the DPS phase. Avoid the Witness’ lethal attacks by staying mobile. During its final stand at 20% health, focus all resources on DPS to defeat it and claim your rewards.
