Discover the Magic: Embark on Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa’s Legendary Staff Quest

During the World of Warcraft: Cataclysm expansion, the blue dragonflight faces a crucial question: Who will become the next Dragon Aspect of Magic after Malygos' fall? Through an extensive questline, Priests, Shamans, Mages, Warlocks, Druids, and Evokers can assist the dragon Kalecgos in finding the answer and help the bronze dragonflight prevent Azeroth's destruction. Ultimately, the reward is the legendary staff, Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa's Rest, along with the unique transmog, the achievement, and the pet Lil' Tarecgosa.

Important Note

Obtaining the legendary staff takes several weeks, requiring repeated visits to the Firelands raid to defeat bosses. Since the 10-player and 25-player modes of Firelands were merged in Battle for Azeroth, the raid can only be done once per week per difficulty (normal and heroic). Additionally, quest items can also be obtained in Timewalking mode when available. Consequently, completing this legendary questline is an ideal activity for all caster classes while waiting for the "War Within" expansion. Moreover, it's a good way to pass the time until the new expansion releases.

Starting the Questline

The questline is available only to Priests, Shamans, Mages, Warlocks, Druids, and Evokers. There are two ways to start:

1. Defeat Molten Lord Trash Mobs in Firelands: This automatically grants the quest "Your Time Has Come" for Horde or Alliance.
2. Complete the First Raid Tier of Cataclysm: Earn achievements in Bastion of Twilight, Blackwing Descent, and Throne of the Four Winds. Then, pick up the quest "A Legendary Engagement" from Ziradormi in Orgrimmar (Horde) or Coridormi in Stormwind (Alliance).

Questline Phases and Staves

Phase 1: Branch of Nordrassil

First, you need to complete the initial quests:

2. A Shard of Time: Collect 25 Eternal Embers and 3 Sands of Time from Yasmin in Uldum (costs 9,000 gold).

Phase 2: Runestaff of Nordrassil

Next, you will proceed to the second phase:

1. Delegation: Collect items from bosses in Firelands to obtain four foci.
   • Shannox: Collect and use Emberstone fragments.
   • Beth'tilac: Collect and use Chitin fragments.
   • Lord Rhyolith: Collect and use Rhyolith fragments.
   • Alysrazar: Collect and use Pyropanzer fragments.
2. Combining the Foci: Summon and defeat Volcanus in Firelands to obtain the Branch of Nordrassil.

Phase 3: Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa's Rest

Finally, you will complete the last phase:

1. A Cleansing Light: Obtain 1,000 Seething Cinders from Firelands bosses.
2. Alignment: Witness an event to receive the Runestaff of Nordrassil.
3. Heart of Flame: Collect 250 Smoldering Essences from Firelands bosses using the Runestaff's special ability. Defeat Ragnaros to obtain the Heart of Flame.
4. The Stuff of Legends: Complete an event in Orgrimmar or Stormwind to receive Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa's Rest.

Rewards

Upon completion, you will receive several rewards:

• Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa's Rest: Legendary staff with unique appearance and effect.
• Lil' Tarecgosa: Pet available from guild vendors for 1,500 gold if the player is in a guild when receiving the staff.
• Tarecgosa's Visage: Mount available through a new questline in Dragonflight if the player has completed the Azure Span leveling campaign.
