After years of players requesting tougher Overland content, the Necrom update introduced more challenging world bosses to meet those expectations. While every zone usually has one or two particularly tough bosses, most of the Necrom bosses are quite challenging overall. If you're eager to tackle these challenges, understanding the Runemaster mechanics fight ESO is essential for success.
If you’re struggling to find a group, the mechanics can make the fight even tougher. However, having the right equipment can make all the difference. Be sure to equip your character with top-tier gear, which can be funded using ESO Gold to enhance your chances of success.
The first boss is Corlys the Chainmaker.
This encounter begins with two waves of smaller enemies that you must defeat before Corlys appears. When he arrives, he is accompanied by an Argonian Behemoth that delivers heavy-hitting attacks and fiery breath. Corlys himself is no slouch, using chains to pull you toward him and rolling into you with a path-like AOE attack.
To succeed in this fight, prioritize defeating the Behemoth first while avoiding Corlys’ attacks. Once the Behemoth is taken out, Corlys becomes much easier to handle. Among the Necrom world bosses, this one is the most straightforward and solo-friendly.
Valkynaz Dek is a Dremora who summons additional enemies to assist him in battle, with the bow-wielders being the most dangerous.
When Valkynaz Dek summons his ads, there’s a brief delay before he becomes invulnerable. Use this time to focus on eliminating the ads. Once they’re gone, he will lower his shield, allowing you to attack him again. Be aware of his lightning cloud AOEs and avoid them whenever possible.
This fight is similar in difficulty to the previous one, but the remaining bosses in Necrom significantly raise the challenge.
Next up is The Prime Cataloger, whose fight can get hectic due to numerous ads and swirling whirlwinds of damaging books.
Minimize the number of ads by taking them out quickly and avoid the AOEs. At around 75% and 35% health, the boss will split into four shaded versions of himself. During these unavoidable phases, focus your attacks on the unshielded copies. The copies take turns dropping their shields, so take them down one by one. Once all copies are defeated, the main boss returns, allowing you to resume dealing damage.
This fight is a marathon rather than a sprint due to the unskippable phases, requiring patience and steady execution.
Vro-Kuul-Sha, a massive Lurker, presents a chaotic and unforgiving encounter.
He spits poison, summons fast-acting AOE Tendrils, and calls smaller Lurkers to join the fight. To succeed, keep moving to avoid the AOEs and focus on minimizing the number of ads. Awareness of your surroundings is crucial to survive this battle.
Understanding the Runemaster mechanics fight ESO is vital when facing Runemaster Xiomara. This boss wields Arcanist abilities, launching runes and teleporting around the battlefield. This boss also creates poison AOEs and features mechanics that demand constant vigilance.
Avoid the edges of the room, as venturing off the platform will result in damage. While dodging AOEs, be mindful of Abyssal Tendrils summoned at your feet and the Shard of Chaos, which fires projectiles at players. The boss remains invulnerable while the Shard of Chaos is active, so prioritize destroying the two smaller shards to bring down the larger shard. Once it’s destroyed, you can focus back on the Runemaster.
If the boss begins channeling, interrupt him with a shield bash, even when he is shielded. Red lines and a green book icon above his head signal this mechanic. While groups can sometimes skip phases with enough damage, many fail due to the mechanics. Watch for these cues to improve your chances of success.
Finally, the most difficult world boss in Necrom is The Walking Nightmare.
This boss is highly unforgiving if you’re not paying attention. He summons ads to assist him, uses a tongue attack to pull players toward him, and periodically runs across the room, leaving trails of shock and poison AOEs. Avoid these hazards at all costs.
Some ads will channel a shield around the boss, making him invulnerable. Quickly focus on these channeling enemies to eliminate them. Throughout the fight, keep the number of ads under control to reduce the chaos. Stay mobile to avoid AOEs, and use blocks and interrupts strategically to manage the boss’s targeting.
As new content is added to ESO, it can become harder to find groups for these challenging bosses. Understanding the mechanics and preparing your character with the right gear funded by ESO Gold can make all the difference. With this guide, you’ll be better equipped to take on Necrom’s toughest world bosses, even if you’re venturing solo.
