- FFXIV Aloalo Island Paths: Complete Guide to Unlocking Routes and Rewards
FFXIV Aloalo Island is a unique variant dungeon that offers multiple aloalo island paths leading to Matsya. As a level 90 dungeon, it can be tackled solo or with a team of up to four players. The dungeon offers significant rewards and has multiple branching routes. There are three main paths—left, right, and center—each offering different experiences and outcomes.
In this dungeon, you will embark on an adventure to the remote Aloalo Island, set in the South Seas. Teaming up with Matsya, you will seek out rare fish while fending off bandits determined to steal the island’s gold. This guide covers all the aloalo island paths, detailing how to unlock them and the rewards associated with each.
FFXIV Aloalo Island Unlock the Dungeon?
To begin your journey on Aloalo Island, speak with the Shallow Moor NPC in Old Sharlayan to start the “Stranger from Paradise” quest. You need to have a level 90 combat class and must have completed the main story quest ‘A Satrap’s Duty’ to unlock it. After meeting these requirements, talk to Osmon in Old Sharlayan to gain access to the dungeon.
FFXIV XIV Aloalo Island Paths
Route 1
Take the left path. When Matsya asks to go fishing, tell him, “We should press on.” Ignore Zeal-blind Zozone and let his HP drain completely. Once he is out of health, he will insult you before leaving.
Route 2
Follow the left route and defeat the enemies. Again, tell Matsya, “We should press on” when he requests to fish. This time, assist the Zeal-blind Zozone. If you’re not playing as a healer, use a variation cure to keep him from dying.
Route 3
Stay on the left path until Matsya expresses interest in fishing. When prompted, tell him, “Fish to your heart’s content.” This will trigger a cutscene indicating time has passed. Continue along the route until Matsya wishes to fish again. Interact with the sand patch on the right and give him a southern sow bug as bait.
Route 4
Continue along the left path and once Matsya asks to fish, tell him, “Fish to your heart’s content.” A brief cutscene will play, advancing time to dusk. When he requests to fish again, interact with the rock pile on the left and provide a southern worm as bait.
Route 5
Opt for the center path. Defeat all enemies without triggering any additional conditions. In the first mob group, avoid killing the Treant first and do not scare off the armadillos. The Lala will use a Faunal Figure to summon armadillos that will leap across the battlefield, dealing proximity damage.
Route 6
Still on the center path, take out the mid-boss before eliminating crawlers and the Treant in any order, ensuring they are not on the sigil. To scare away the armadillos, sprint through the red flower bushes and continue following the route.
Route 7
Stay on the center path and remove the Treant from the first trash pack. Then, defeat the four crawler mobs on the rune on the platform’s right side. Each defeated enemy will illuminate the rune. Jolly-tailed J’jhimei is the last enemy; let her escape rather than attacking. Continue down the new path, defeat the creatures, and finish the route by defeating the wood golems.
Route 8
Take the center path again. After the mid-boss, proceed to the worms and Treant. Pull the Treant onto the sigil and defeat it first to unlock a hidden path. Follow the new route, eliminate enemies, and attack Jolly-tailed J’jhimei. Since the golems won’t activate, you can proceed to complete the route.
Route 9
Select the right path. You will encounter Statice, a pixie, who offers assistance at a dead end. Accept her help by choosing “Well go on, don’t keep them to yourself.” Use her portal to continue.
Route 10
Follow the right path again, but this time, reject Statice’s help three times. Move forward without opening any chests until she clears the path. Interact with the lever and proceed to the end of the path.
Route 11
Take the right path once more and refuse Statice’s help three times. Follow the alternate route, interact with the mimic treasures, but ignore the animal statues. Pull the lever and continue to the final area.
Route 12
Once again, choose the right path and reject Statice’s help three times. Follow the new route without interacting with treasures, animal statues, or the lever. Complete the rituals associated with the statues:
- Sparrow Statue: Type “O dancer of the skies, hear me” in the chat window. Use the /blowkiss emote and circle the statues once clockwise before returning to the sparrow statue and using the /dance emote.
- Whale Statue: Type “O messenger from beyond the horizon, hear me” in chat. Circle the statues twice clockwise, then once counterclockwise, and finish with the /dance emote.
- Turtle Statue: Type “O wayfarer of the land and sea, hear me” in chat. Walk around the statues twice counterclockwise, then face the turtle and use the /bow emote.
