- FFXIV: How to Obtain Royal Damask for Crafting the Royal Bed
With the release of Patch 7.1 in Final Fantasy XIV, players have been treated to exciting new content, including the first level of the latest Alliance Raid, additional MSQ quests, and an assortment of fresh crafting materials and recipes. Among these new additions, the highly sought-after Royal Damask has caught the attention of many.
Though it is used solely for crafting the Royal Bed, the rarity and effort required to obtain Royal Damask have elevated the bed’s status within the player community. This guide explains how to acquire this elusive material and how to craft and utilize the Royal Bed. Let’s dive in!
How to Obtain Royal Damask
Royal Damask is exclusively available through the Echoes of Vana’diel Alliance Raid. This raid pays homage to Final Fantasy XI, offering nostalgic experiences with retro-themed content. However, accessing the raid requires you to meet specific prerequisites:
- Level 100 Disciple of War or Magic
- Completion of the Dawntrail MSQs from Patch 7.0
- A minimum item level of 695
If you haven’t fulfilled these requirements yet, consider upgrading your gear or completing quests using FFXIV Gil to speed up the process. Once ready, head to Tuliyollal, locate the main Aetheryte, and speak with Hoobigo Messenger to begin the quest "An Otherworldly Encounter".
This quest will lead you to Mamook, where you’ll meet Miilal Ja, the mother of Bakool Ja Ja. Follow the instructions to speak with several NPCs as indicated in your quest log. After a series of cutscenes, you’ll unlock the raid entrance: Jeuno: The First Walk.
Tips for Completing the Raid
Once inside the raid, note that the queue time can be lengthy due to the high demand for Royal Damask. If your wait exceeds 30 minutes, consider alternative activities, such as leveling your fishing or cooking skills to unlock unique minions.
Keep in mind that Royal Damask has a very low drop rate, meaning it might take several runs to obtain it. Additionally, because the material is rare, you’ll face competition from other players in the raid. Be prepared for a challenging grind!
How to Craft the Royal Bed
Royal Damask is a critical component for crafting the Royal Bed, but the recipe is only accessible to level 100 Carpenters. To begin crafting, locate the recipe in the Carpenter Job Menu. Alongside Royal Damask, you will need the following materials:
- 32 Wind Crystals
- 32 Ice Crystals
- 3 Dark Mahogany Lumber
- 3 White Gold Ingots
- 3 Thunderyard Silks
- 3 Ancient Lumbers
- 3 Rubies
It’s recommended to start by gathering the easier materials, such as White Gold Ingots or Ancient Lumbers, to save time. Additionally, crafting the Royal Bed requires 4207 Craftsmanship, so ensure your Carpenter’s stats are sufficient.
Once crafted, the Royal Bed can be displayed in your personal house or apartment. For entrepreneurial players, selling it on the Marketboard is an excellent way to earn extra FFXIV Gil.
Is It Worth the Effort?
Although some may view crafting furniture in an MMO as unnecessary, the satisfaction of creating a perfect virtual space is undeniable. Moreover, the music, mechanics, and nostalgia found in Jeuno: The First Walk make the experience worthwhile, even beyond acquiring the Royal Damask.
With this guide, you’re equipped to obtain Royal Damask and craft the coveted Royal Bed. Whether you’re looking to enhance your home or showcase your craftsmanship to fellow players, this item is a fantastic way to stand out in the Final Fantasy XIV community. Happy crafting!
