This coming Tuesday, November 12, the story of the latest Final Fantasy XIV expansion continues. Alongside new story missions, there are plenty of new challenges awaiting brave adventurers.

Where will your journey take you?

Patch 7.1, titled “Crossroads,” picks up right where the main story of Dawntrail left off. Although peace has been restored in Tural, not all conflicts have been resolved. In about seven new quests, you’ll be searching for long-lost memories.

During the storyline, you’ll encounter the new story dungeon “Research Station Yuweyawata,” which depicts a time when Prince Zoraal Ja faced off against a Tural Vidraal. You’ll also have the opportunity to take on missions from the Pelupelu and help them establish a travel agency.

Additionally, the extreme trial “Eternal Queen” and the dream trial Byakko make their debut and can each be tackled with 8 players. For those eager to battle with 24 players, the new alliance raid “Echoes of Vana’diel (Part 1) Jeuno: The First Stage,” inspired by Final Fantasy XI, will be available.

New Features for Housing Enthusiasts and More

What else does the patch bring? Alongside playable content, several adjustments and updates have been made that might delight some players. You’ll now have the freedom to redesign your interior space, though all furniture will be automatically stored in your inventory.

Gold Saucer fans will be pleased as well, especially if Doman Mahjong is among their interests. With Patch 7.1, you can play matches against members of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, with full voice acting included.

Newcomers to Final Fantasy XIV will also benefit from an update to the Novice Hall, which now includes new exercises on various attack markers and combat mechanics, helping fresh sprouts prepare for their upcoming adventures.

Later Patches Bring Major Chaos

Is there more? Absolutely! Although not arriving on November 12, additional content will be released in subsequent patches, bringing exciting and challenging new features:

Patch 7.11 will introduce the new Ultimate Raid “A Second Future (Ultimate),” where you’ll once again face the light-drenched world and confront Ryne.

In Patch 7.15, prepare for another adventure alongside Eorzea’s most famous detective. Yes, Hildibrand is back, and his outrageous questlines are bound to surprise once more. This patch will also include new custom deliveries from Nitowikwe and side quests in the Wachumeqimeqi Market.

The biggest addition, however, is the chaotic new alliance raid, “The Cloud of Darkness (Chaos Mode).” In this encounter, 24 players face a single opponent with the intensity typically reserved for epic raids—just with triple the players. This content will release a week after Patch 7.15, marking the midpoint to the next major patch.

With Patch 7.16, new role quests will be introduced for tanks, healers, and DPS. As with all patches and interim updates, new items, gear, weapons, mounts, and companions will be added, available through in-game activities.

One seemingly inconspicuous companion has recently gained a lot of attention due to a price increase of 1,600% on the market board. Previously available for a pittance, this companion’s price soared so high that mods were even created to bypass the purchase. Here’s the backstory: The price of a pet in an MMORPG skyrockets by 1,600% because everyone is going crazy over a baby hippo.
