Old School RuneScape offers a vast collection of items that players can gather throughout their journey. When your inventory is flooded with gear, crafting components, or random loot, managing it can quickly become overwhelming. That’s where the looting bag comes into play—an extremely useful tool to help organize and store valuable items, especially while exploring the Wilderness.
In this guide, we’ll show you exactly how to get your hands on a Looting Bag in OSRS and explain how to use it efficiently.
The Looting Bag is a special storage item in OSRS designed to hold up to 28 stacks of different items. However, you can only carry one Looting Bag at a time in your inventory. When you pick up tradeable items in the Wilderness, they won’t go directly into your inventory unless you use a container like the Looting Bag.
Items that naturally stack in your inventory—such as arrows, runes, and noted items—will stack in the Looting Bag the same way, allowing you to make the most of its limited space.

There are several reliable methods for acquiring a Looting Bag in the game. Below are some of the best ways to obtain this essential storage item:
In the past, the Looting Bag could be purchased from the Bounty Hunter Store, located just north of the Edgeville Bank. However, this option was removed with an update in 2021.
Now, you can buy the Looting Bag from the shop called Justine’s Stuff for the Last Shopper Standing. The cost is 1 Last Man Standing point, earned by participating in the PvP minigame of the same name.
Because the Looting Bag is tradeable, another alternative is buying a Looting Bag note from the Grand Exchange or directly from other players. You can then exchange the note at any bank to receive the Looting Bag itself.
Farming monsters is one of the most consistent methods for getting a Looting Bag. Almost all monsters in the Wilderness can drop it, with the exception of Abyssal Demons and Aviansies. Note that you cannot obtain the bag using Telekinetic Grab. Certain NPCs encountered during Treasure Trails can also drop it.
The Looting Bag has a relatively high drop rate. For monsters with a combat level of 10 or lower, the drop chance is 1 in 15. For those with combat levels above 50, the odds improve to 1 in 3.
One of the most effective methods for farming a Looting Bag is killing Thugs and Druids in the Edgeville Wilderness Dungeon. Here’s a list of other monsters with a 1/3 drop rate for the Looting Bag:
As explained earlier, the Looting Bag is specifically used to store item stacks found in the Wilderness, including within Ferox Enclave. You can toggle the bag’s setting from Closed to Open in the menu, allowing all lootable items to go directly into the bag instead of your inventory. This makes the process much more efficient by eliminating prompts for how many items to store.
Whether you enjoy hunting monsters or battling other players, the Looting Bag offers real utility. For example, when slaying green dragons, you can store more dragon bones and hides per trip, maximizing your profits and kills.
If you’re involved in PvP, the bag helps reduce inventory clutter. Instead of dropping unnecessary items mid-combat, just store them in the Looting Bag to stay prepared and keep your inventory space flexible.
When you’re ready to bank your loot, just access any bank interface and open your Looting Bag. From there, you can review all stored items and click “Deposit All” to transfer everything into your bank. Keep in mind that any unbankable items will instead be placed into your main inventory.
If you die while carrying a Looting Bag, you’ll lose both the bag and all of its contents. However, if you defeat another player with a filled Looting Bag, you’ll get everything inside it—excluding any consumables like food or potions.
Now you should have a clear idea of what the Looting Bag is, how to get it, and how to use it for optimal efficiency in OSRS. Whether you’re slaying enemies or engaging in PvP combat, keeping a Looting Bag on you is a must whenever you're in the Wilderness.
