Sand Crabs are passive creatures in OSRS that blend into the environment, appearing as ordinary rocks. However, once you approach them, they become aggressive and attack. These creatures are accessible to all players since no favor is required to engage them. This makes them an excellent choice for farming experience, especially for free-to-play members looking to train efficiently.
Reaching the Sand Crabs isn’t particularly difficult, but since they spawn in a remote open area, it can be time-consuming. New players may struggle to locate them without proper guidance.
This guide explores multiple ways to reach Sand Crabs in OSRS, allowing you to choose the most convenient method based on your available resources.
How To Get To The Sand Crabs?
There are several ways to reach Sand Crabs, each with different requirements. Generally, you need to visit Crabclaw Isle, located in the kingdom of Great Kourend. If you haven't unlocked access to Great Kourend, the first method will be your only option.
Gaining access to Crabclaw Isle costs 10,000 coins, but you can reduce this amount by completing certain Kourend quests. Finishing the Easy Kourend & Kebos Achievement Diary lowers the cost to 5,000 coins, while completing the Medium tier allows free entry.
Below are nine different ways to reach Sand Crabs:
Accessing Sand Crabs Through Port Sarim
This is the easiest method with no requirements. Simply head to Port Sarim and speak to Veos, who can be found on the northeastern dock. He will take you to Port Piscarilius by boat. From there, travel south across the continent to reach the beach where Sand Crabs spawn.
Using Fairy Rings
This method requires access to Fairy Rings for teleportation. Use the code DJR to teleport near Chasm of Fire, then run east and head south along the shore. If you have 40 Agility, you can use the stepping stones east of the infirmary to shorten the journey.
Using Xeric’s Talisman
One of the most convenient methods involves Xeric’s Talisman, which has a built-in teleport called Xeric’s Glade. This talisman is a drop from Lizardmen, with a 1/250 drop rate. Since Lizardmen are level 53, obtaining the talisman may require some combat experience.
To use this method, charge the talisman with Lizardman Fangs (purchasable from the Grand Exchange). Once charged, teleport to Xeric’s Glade and head south to reach Sand Crabs on Hosidius Beach.
Using Skill Necklace
A Skill Necklace is another easy way to reach Sand Crabs without requiring Xeric’s Talisman or Fairy Rings. Simply purchase a Skill Necklace from the Grand Exchange and use it to teleport to the Woodcutting Guild. From there, run east until you reach the shore where Sand Crabs reside.
Using Kharedst’s Memoirs
First, complete Client of Kourend, a quest given by Veos at Port Sarim. Upon completion, you’ll receive Kharedst’s Memoirs, a book with teleportation abilities. Use it to teleport to Hosidius, then follow the river south and cross the bridge east to find the Sand Crabs.
Using Minigame Teleports
Once you achieve 100% Hosidius favor, you can enter Tithe Farm. This grants access to Minigame Teleports, allowing you to teleport directly to Tithe Farm. From there, run southeast toward the beach where Sand Crabs spawn.
Accessing Lovakengj Minecart Network
If you’ve gained 65% Lovakengj favor, you can use the Lovakengj Minecart Network. A one-time teleport costs 50 coins, while lifetime access costs 100,000 coins. Take the minecart to Hosidius, then head southeast, crossing the bridge to reach the Sand Crabs.
Using Kourend Castle Teleport
With 69 Magic, you can unlock Kourend Castle Teleport. After teleporting, run south and then southeast, crossing the bridges along the way until you reach the beach where Sand Crabs are located.
Using House Teleport Tablets
This is the fastest method but has higher requirements. Move your Player-Owned House (POH) to Hosidius (requires 25 Construction and 8,750 coins). Then, teleport to your house, exit the portal, and head directly south to the Sand Crabs. Alternatively, you can use Scrolls of Redirection on house teleport tablets instead of relocating your POH.
Is It Worth Getting To The Sand Crabs?
Sand Crabs are an excellent training option due to their aggressive behavior, making them ideal for AFK combat training. They have low defense and attack but offer decent experience per hour. Simply activate auto-retaliate and stand among them to farm XP efficiently for melee, ranged, or magic training.
