Marvel Rivals has expanded its roster with two new characters—The Thing and The Human Torch—bringing the Fantastic Four together in the game. Alongside their arrival, their First Family skins were introduced as purchasable cosmetics.
These skins are simple recolors of the other Fantastic Four members, but The Thing’s version has particularly frustrated players. Since his default appearance consists of just pants, the First Family skin only changes the color of his shorts, yet still costs 600 credits (Lattice). Many players feel that this minimal change doesn't justify the price.
Marvel Rivals Players Aren’t Happy With This Skin for The Thing
A discussion sparked by Reddit user justindoit1337 called The Thing’s First Family skin the worst basic skin in the game, receiving 7.5k upvotes at the time of writing. User WizardJeremy pointed out that the coloring isn’t even consistent with the rest of the Fantastic Four set, making it feel even more disappointing.
If you're considering purchasing it, 600 Lattice costs about $6, requiring a 500-credit pack plus an additional 100-credit pack. Alternatively, 1,000 Lattice is available for $9.99.
However, The Thing’s skin isn't the only one drawing criticism. Luna’s black and green skin was mentioned by Reddit user RealSymmetra, while Mantis and Adam were also highlighted as having uninspired designs. Overall, many players feel that the cheaper skins don’t provide enough visual appeal to be worth the cost.
Iron Man's Buffs Are Also Causing Frustration
The Thing’s skin isn’t the only recent change stirring up complaints. Players are also struggling against Iron Man’s new buffs, which have significantly increased the damage of his Unibeam. As a result, he’s tearing through opponents with ease, making him a frustrating matchup.
On the bright side, the triple-support meta has seen a decrease in effectiveness, offering some relief for players tired of facing overly defensive team compositions.
