Arc Raiders Root Of The Matter Quest Guide

In Arc Raiders, you’ll spend plenty of time venturing topside to gather valuable resources that help Speranza survive underground. One such quest, Root of the Matter, sends you to the Research Building in search of a seed vault. If you’ve made it inside but aren’t sure exactly where to look, this guide will walk you through everything you need to know.

It’s important to remember that you do not have to extract for this quest to register as complete. Because of that—and considering how dangerous the Research Building and its surrounding zones can be—it’s smart to bring a free loadout unless you’re extremely confident in your ability to survive the chaos.

Where to find the Seed Vault in the Room with a Great View

Your first task in Root of the Matter is to make your way to the Research Building. You’ll find it positioned to the right of Marano Park, and it’s one of the most contested and high-traffic locations on the map. Expect to encounter other raiders looking for fights, along with multiple ARC units patrolling both outside and within the structure. If you’re approaching from the Marano Park direction, stay alert—large ARC frequently roam the square and can quickly overwhelm unprepared players.

After entering the Research Building, your goal is to locate the “room with a great view.” This room sits on the west side of the building and features a massive window overlooking the park. Inside, you’ll find the seed vault—a cylindrical container placed against the wall. Interact with it to secure the seeds and complete the objective.

With that interaction complete, Root of the Matter is finished. From here, you’re free to continue looting the building or engaging in fights if you’re feeling bold. Again, extraction isn’t required for the quest to count. However, if you’d prefer to leave the area safely—as most players should—the Northern Station is located just northwest of the Research Building and provides a convenient escape route.

Be cautious as you descend the stairs toward the station, though. Train stations in Buried City commonly contain Pod ARCs that detonate when players get too close. Stay aware of your surroundings, move carefully, and you’ll make it out in one piece. Good luck!
