There are tons of weapons in The First Descendant, and enemies often drop new guns during missions. This means you’ll regularly be swapping out gear to equip whatever deals more damage. But which guns are truly worth your time? Welcome to our the First Descendant gun tier list, where we evaluate and rank the most powerful meta weapons in the game.
Getting your hands on a great gun is only half the challenge. You also need to level it up in order to expand its module capacity. This lets you equip more modules, boosting everything from damage to recoil control. However, leveling takes a long time. That’s why we recommend using the Ultimate Weapon Leveling boost from Gamer Choice. With professional boosters handling the grind, you’ll save hours while unlocking your weapon’s full potential. Gamer Choice ensures safe and efficient service with 24/7 support available to guide you through the process.
We’re focusing exclusively on meta weapons in The First Descendant—specifically, the Ultimate weapons. These guns aren’t just more powerful; they offer unique passive abilities that distinguish them from their more common counterparts. We’re skipping over Normal and Rare weapons since they drop frequently and mainly vary in DPS.
Ultimate weapons, on the other hand, are crafted using specific materials. Each one comes with a distinct look and, more importantly, a special mechanic you won’t find on standard loot drops.
In this the First Descendant gun tier list, we rate Ultimate weapons by their effectiveness in gameplay:
Read on to find out why some of these guns shine and why others fall flat.

Before diving deeper, keep in mind that weapon preferences can be subjective. While our tier list gives a good idea of what’s currently popular and effective, updates and balance patches can shift the meta. Experimenting with different guns is encouraged—you might discover a powerful underdog waiting for its time to shine.
This top tier includes a variety of options to fit different playstyles. Each of these guns is so powerful that they’re worth researching regardless of your Descendant choice.

A go-to choice for shielded enemies. If you can consistently hit Weak Points, this weapon can down tanky foes in just a couple of shots.
Detect: Hitting a Weak Point may deal damage to the enemy’s shield based on their max shield. At high firearm levels, this effect is enhanced. Fully depleting a shield with this damage may also stun the enemy.

Arguably one of the strongest weapons available. The more pellets hit a target, the higher the damage. This shotgun also inflicts Electrocution, adding bonus damage over time.
Impending Judgement: Hitting with all bullets activates Executor's Exaltation. If bullets miss, the effect diminishes. At full charge, the next shot boosts Firearm ATK and applies Electrocution. Hitting Electrocuted targets further enhances damage.

Damage increases the longer you fire. It slows enemies and weakens their resistance to Chill, making it a must-have for Viessa users.
The Thing Beyond: A Stage 2 Beam applies Void Gaze. A Stage 3 Beam inflicts Appalled Calling, functioning like Frostbite in some modes.

A hybrid weapon for support and offense. Lowers enemy defense when fired at them and restores ally shields when fired at teammates (at the cost of MP). Excellent for Jayber, Yujin, or other support builds.
Fanaticism: Weak Point hits mark enemies with Devotion. Shots at allies restore 10% of their shield, costing MP unless it’s below 85.

Currently the best SMG in the game. Weak Point shots reduce elemental resistance, giving your entire squad a damage boost.
Python Instinct: Weak Point hits apply Prey. This can stack for added effect.
These guns are all highly efficient, particularly because they fire lots of bullets without frequent reloading. Expect to find LMGs and ARs dominating this tier.

A powerhouse LMG that excels against stunned or CC’d enemies. Ideal for Descendants with crowd-control abilities.
Cavalry: Boosts damage on stunned enemies. Critical hits on stunned targets may reapply the stun effect.

Increases the rate of elemental procs while also reducing enemy resistance. A perfect match for element-focused Descendants.
Craftsmanship: Boosts elemental effect trigger rate and applies Quenching (Fire resistance debuff and Burn). Extra damage when hitting Burned enemies.

The only semi-auto rifle in this tier. Restores your Tech Custom Resource and enhances Tech skill damage.
Gardener: Using a Dimension skill may restore Custom Resource. Using a Tech skill may activate Pest Control.

An excellent support AR that rewards buffing your allies with beneficial effects for yourself.
Prayer: Buffing allies gives you Meditation. Restoring teammates grants Praise. Debuffing enemies activates Glory.
Weapons in this tier shine when used by specific Descendants. Their performance depends heavily on synergy with abilities and playstyles.

Great for fast-paced combat. Defeating enemies releases electric shockwaves. Ideal for crowd-control builds like Lepic’s.

Excellent for precision strikes and buff removal. Performs well with characters like Bunny due to high crit chance against grouped enemies.

Built for high crits and elite enemy takedowns. Requires precision and time investment to unlock its full potential.

Best suited for solo players seeking higher crit rate, reduced recoil, and regeneration suppression. Relies on frequent reloads to activate benefits.
These weapons are solid but not ideal. They’re either too situational or lack consistent power to compete with higher-tier picks.

Offers excellent area control with increased range and duration. However, it requires a long setup, which limits effectiveness.

Deals strong damage with timed detonations. The problem is timing—hard to use effectively in fast-paced combat.

Enhances AoE damage for characters that need it. Loses accuracy when aiming or hip-firing, which can be frustrating.

Arguably the best pistol in the game. Grants random buffs on reloads, but their inconsistency can be problematic in tight spots.

Perfect for crit-focused builds. Long aim recovery time, however, makes follow-up shots harder to land.
These guns are generally not worth crafting unless they receive a major buff in future patches.

Versatile, but its utility is tied to skill usage, which limits its overall value.

Relies on building up stacks by killing enemies, which is slow and risky. Not worth the effort.

Only works against poisoned enemies. Currently, just one Descendant can apply poison, so this weapon is extremely limited.

Ammo is scarce, and its guided projectile mechanic feels clunky. Needs substantial rework to be viable.
Perforator is widely considered the top weapon due to its exceptional performance against shielded foes and its powerful Weak Point damage. It remains a favorite for its high efficiency across most encounters.
Executor stands out for its burst damage. When all pellets land, it unleashes tremendous firepower and triggers electrocution, making it ideal for quickly eliminating enemies.
The most effective guns currently include Perforator, Executor, Clairvoyance, Nazeistra's Devotion, and Python. Each offers a unique mechanic that synergizes well with various Descendants.
Clairvoyance is known for its pinpoint accuracy and minimal recoil. Its continuous beam becomes more potent the longer you fire, making it perfect for consistent aim and damage output.
Executor delivers some of the highest potential damage in the game, especially when all pellets hit. Its electrocution effect adds further DPS, making it lethal in close-quarters combat.
Perforator earns this title thanks to its versatility and raw power. It can break through shields and has a chance to stun enemies, making it useful in nearly every situation.
Yes, Enduring Legacy is highly valuable for characters using elemental skills. It boosts elemental status effects and weakens enemy resistance, greatly increasing overall damage output.
High-tier weapons, especially Ultimate ones, can be crafted at the Research Institute or dropped from bosses, dungeons, and missions. Talk to Magisters Anais and complete specific quests to unlock crafting options.
To unlock Ultimate weapons, collect crafting materials and follow sub-quests introduced during story progression. The Research Institute provides all the steps needed via Magisters Anais.
Thunder Cage is an excellent choice for Rank 3 players, offering reliable electric shockwave damage after enemy kills. It’s great for clearing groups in fast-paced scenarios.
With 21 unique weapons to choose from, there’s something for every type of Descendant and playstyle. Still, not every gun is created equal. As our the First Descendant gun tier list shows, some weapons have game-changing effects while others fall short.
In general, handguns are underwhelming—even with unique abilities. They lack firepower, ammo efficiency, and rate of fire. Beam rifles and tactical rifles tend to be very situational. Rocket launchers suffer from scarce ammo drops. Meanwhile, assault rifles and machine guns remain the top picks, thanks to their large magazines, solid DPS, and effective special traits. Prioritize crafting these if you want a reliable edge in your battles.
