The Ultimate Guide to Hunting the Time-Lost Proto-Drake

The Time-Lost Proto-Drake is among World of Warcraft's rare spawn mounts. To obtain it, you must defeat the dragon of the same name, located in the Storm Peaks(Wrath of the Lich King expansion).

The Time-Lost Proto-Drake cannot be looted by trial characters. It can be tagged by party members, with up to 5 people in total, and all participants will receive the Reins of the Time-Lost Proto-Drake upon its defeat.

After engaging in combat for 5 minutes, the Time-Lost Proto-Drake becomes enraged, gaining the Wild Wrath buff. This causes it to gain speed and cast Fatal Bite, dealing 50% maximum health damage to its target.

The Time-Lost Proto-Drake's spawn time is estimated to be between 2 to 8 hours.

It shares its spawn timer, spawn points, and flight routes with Vyragosa, another dragon necessary for the Frostbitten achievement. Vyragosa tends to spawn more frequently than the Time-Lost Proto-Drake.

The Dragon can be pulled by aggroing its body and has a leash range of 100 yards.

You can target both the Time-Lost Proto-Drake and Vyragosa by using the macro provided below. If the Time-Lost Proto-Drake is found, a sound will play.

Both Dragons remain on the ground for 30 Minutes after defeated. Once, they disappear, the Time Lost Proto Dragon wont reappear for 2 hours.

If you are in a Party make sure to hit it with non damaging spells, such as Counter Spell (Mage), Wind Shear (Shaman), Provoke (Monk) or Counter Shot (Hunter). You can also use toys, such as the Fruit Basket.
