As you travel across, beneath, and high above Hyrule, chances are you’ve run into Koroks that either need a helping hand or are cleverly hidden in the environment. Just like in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Korok Seeds can be uncovered in countless corners of the land—sometimes by solving a simple puzzle, other times by investigating something out of place.
Although the internet loves to showcase all the creative ways players are tormenting these little guys, lending them a hand—whether it’s escorting one with an oversized backpack from Point A to Point B or discovering one behind a swirl of leaves—is much more rewarding. In this guide, I’ll show you how to spot Korok Seeds with ease and what methods can help you gather them faster in Tears of the Kingdom.

Obtaining Korok Seeds always requires you to solve some kind of puzzle. Thankfully, they’re not nearly as difficult as Shrine puzzles. Many are straightforward, like helping a Korok travel to a destination, or lifting a rock that looks suspiciously out of place. Still, Koroks make use of plenty of hiding tricks across Hyrule, many of which will be familiar if you’ve already spent time hunting in Breath of the Wild.
Here’s a breakdown of the different puzzle types you’ll encounter while searching for Korok Seeds:
If you come across a random rock sitting in a strange spot, go ahead and lift it. Quite often, a Korok will appear underneath, rewarding you with a Korok Seed.
When you see pinwheels crafted from sticks and leaves, approach them. This usually triggers targets to appear, sometimes balloons, other times glowing lights. You’ll recognize it by the distinct “pop” sound. You may have to shoot balloons or follow a light trail within a time limit. Once complete, the Korok will show up and reward you with a Korok Seed.
Small tree stumps are common across Hyrule, but the very short ones are worth investigating. Standing on them usually activates a timed race, summoning a glowing circle in the distance. Reach it before the timer runs out, and you’ll be gifted a Korok Seed.
Certain stumps come with cork-like objects tied down by chains. Use Ultrahand to connect the chain to a solid object like a rock or board and pull. Doing so will free the Korok and grant you a Korok Seed.
Sometimes you’ll spot rock arrangements with one missing piece. Find a nearby stone and set it in the proper place to complete the pattern. The Korok will then appear with a Korok Seed.
This new type of puzzle is unique to Tears of the Kingdom. You’ll occasionally find a Korok stranded, needing to reunite with a friend. The method of transporting them is entirely up to you—though it may involve long treks. Ultrahand is often your best ally here. When you manage to bring the Korok safely to their buddy, you’ll be rewarded with not one, but two Korok Seeds.
Keep an eye out for Dandelions, as these often hide Koroks. Hit the flower and chase it as it floats around. Eventually, a Korok will appear, gifting you a Korok Seed. Sometimes the Dandelion may fly outside your view, so stay sharp while tracking it.
You may also stumble upon statues holding empty bowls. Simply place an Apple in the offering bowl, and a Korok will spring up to give you a Korok Seed.
Just as in Breath of the Wild, Korok Seeds are used by Hestu to expand your inventory. You’ll first encounter him in Central Hyrule near the closest Sky Tower in the area. After speaking to him, he’ll request your help in defeating hostile trees nearby. Once you clear them out, he’ll start accepting Korok Seeds in exchange for extra slots.
After that first meeting, Hestu relocates to Lookout Landing, alongside Purah and the other survivors of the Upheaval. From then on, you can exchange Korok Seeds for more weapon, bow, or shield space. Keep in mind, though, each upgrade requires progressively more Korok Seeds. Fortunately, with hundreds scattered all over Hyrule, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to stock up. You don’t need to find them all—just grab them whenever you come across them, and your inventory will expand over time.
Whether you’re solving puzzles, chasing Dandelions, or helping little backpacked Koroks reunite with their friends, Korok Seeds are essential for improving your adventure in Tears of the Kingdom. Whenever you need a boost in inventory space, remember to trade them in with Hestu—and enjoy the reward of having more room to carry the weapons, shields, and bows you’ll need in your journey acro
