Lance has a habit of sending you out into the wilds to track down unusual items in Arc Raiders, and A New Type of Plant continues that trend. For this quest, you’ll need to venture into the Old Battleground section of the Dam Battlegrounds map to locate a potentially toxic plant growing near a massive fallen ARC. After securing it, your job isn’t done—you must safely extract and return the specimen to Lance in Speranza.
Unlike some objectives, this one requires you to successfully extract with the item in your inventory to complete A New Type of Plant. Because of that, it’s smart to bring a loadout you trust—preferably one that includes a safe pocket augment. A solid weapon geared toward handling human opponents is highly recommended, as player encounters can be more dangerous than the ARC in this area. Before deploying, double-check that you’ve stocked up on ammunition and healing supplies so you’re prepared if things go sideways during extraction.
Once you’re geared up and ready to deploy, here’s how to complete A New Type of Plant.
Your first objective in A New Type of Plant is locating the Baron Husk. This enormous fallen ARC can be found in the Old Battleground area on the far western edge of the Dam Battlegrounds map. It’s hard to miss—this towering metal wreck is a massive, battle-scarred structure that clearly didn’t survive whatever conflict brought it down.
While the Old Battleground isn’t typically one of the most crowded zones on the map, that doesn’t mean you should let your guard down. Other raiders may still pass through, especially if they’re working on similar objectives. Staying alert and communicating if needed—sometimes even a quick “don’t shoot!”—can be the difference between walking away with your quest item or getting sent back to Speranza empty-handed.
The toxic plant you’re searching for spawns in multiple locations around the Baron Husk. Visually, it resembles the Great Mullein you previously collected for Lance’s Doctor’s Orders quest, but this version stands out thanks to its bright orange blossoms. The color makes it easier to identify once you know what you’re looking for, though it can still blend into the environment if you’re rushing.
If you’re having trouble spotting one, circle the immediate area around the husk and check carefully along the ground nearby. The plants commonly grow close to the wreckage, so methodically sweeping the perimeter should eventually lead you to one. Once you find it, don’t forget to interact and loot the plant to add it to your inventory.
After collecting the toxic plant, your next step is to extract safely. If you brought along a safe pocket augment, immediately store the quest item inside to protect it in case you’re eliminated before reaching an exit. From there, make your way east toward the Central Swamp Lift. Be cautious—this extraction point is frequently populated with ARC enemies and is a known hotspot for other raiders looking to ambush players on their way out. Move carefully, clear threats when necessary, and avoid unnecessary fights if you can.
With a bit of patience and smart positioning, you’ll make it back to Speranza and be able to hand over the plant to Lance, wrapping up A New Type of Plant without unnecessary setbacks.
