ARC Raiders is set to launch with five different maps available at release. If you’ve played any extraction-style games before, you already know that understanding the map is absolutely critical to survival. Today, we’re focusing entirely on the Dam Battlegrounds raid. This will be the very first location most players experience, making it an essential learning ground for core mechanics, enemy behavior, and extraction flow. This guide explains everything you need to know about the Dam Battlegrounds map.
If you’re already comfortable navigating this location and want to spend your time elsewhere, you can also check out our Dam Battlegrounds Raid Boost. With Gamer Choice specialists handling the run, you can safely stock up on valuable loot and resources while focusing on other priorities.

Dam Battlegrounds is the first map you’ll encounter in ARC Raiders, but don’t let that fool you into thinking it’s easy. Its relatively compact layout significantly increases the likelihood of encounters with both players and hostile ARCs. In many cases, ARCs are an even bigger threat than other Raiders, especially for newcomers. This Dam Battlegrounds raid guide covers everything you need to understand the map properly.
We’ll break down loot categories, highlight mini-bosses and major threats, outline the best loot routes, explain the Harvester event, and provide a full list of extraction points. Let’s begin.
ARC Raiders features a massive variety of loot, far too much to fully cover in a single article. A complete breakdown deserves its own dedicated guide. In this Dam Battlegrounds loot guide, we’ll focus on loot categories, the most rewarding locations, and the most efficient loot path.
Loot variety in ARC Raiders is broader than in many other extraction shooters. Progression relies heavily on crafting rather than outright purchasing gear. Understanding loot categories is essential, especially due to your very limited backpack space. Knowing what to pick up—and what to leave behind—can make or break a run. Below are all the loot types you’ll encounter:
| Type of Loot | Description |
|---|---|
| Nature | Used to upgrade Scrappy. Has sellables. Obviously, some medical items like healing bandages. Nature items can spawn anywhere on the map. |
| Industrial | Everything you can imagine drops here. Items are usually used to upgrade the workbench. Also contains some recyclables that give you the most craftable ingredients. Think of it as a loot for when you need to upgrade or craft something. |
| Security | Weapons, blueprints, attachments. It is very unlikely to find attachments outside of security areas. These are the map's biggest hot zones, so expect resistance there. |
| ARCs | This is a separate loot that can be found within the ARC machines. The ARCs contain very valuable items, for instance, used to repair higher-grade equipment. You cannot get this loot anywhere else except from the drones themselves. |
| Commercial | A mix of a few loot types. It contains some residential items, such as valuables or recyclables, that can be broken down into very useful components. |
| Medical | Healing items, craftables, and workbench upgrades. These should be your first priority to get on the game's release. |
| Mechanical | Components for crafting, upgrading, and repairing your gear. |
| Electrical | Advanced electrical components, sensors, wires, and whatnot. Usually, they're found inside the fuse boxes. |
| Technological | Small computers, processors, etc. Very useful for upgrades or selling. |
Rarity alone shouldn’t dictate your decisions. In many cases, low-tier or gray items are far more useful early on than rare materials you can’t yet use. Since your backpack fills quickly, prioritize items that immediately contribute to upgrades, crafting, or survival rather than hoarding things you might need much later.
Loot locations in ARC Raiders are clearly marked on the map with colored polygons. Green zones like Water Treatment Control, Power Generation Complex, and Testing Annex offer moderate loot. Red zones—such as Hydroponic Dome Complex, Control Tower, and Research & Administration—contain the highest-value loot in the game.
These colors also indicate activity levels. Red zones attract more players and ARCs, making them far riskier. That said, top-tier loot isn’t always restricted to these areas. Occasionally, valuable items spawn in unexpected zones, such as Nature loot appearing in Industrial areas.
With that in mind, here are the most rewarding loot locations on the Dam Battlegrounds map:
While these areas offer the best loot, they’re not always ideal for safe runs. If you prefer efficiency with minimal combat, the next section is for you.
This route is designed for calmer loot runs with minimal resistance. That said, no route in Dam Battlegrounds is completely free of danger. You’ll still encounter ARCs and the occasional player, but many Raiders prefer to avoid unnecessary fights. Sometimes, simply signaling that you’re friendly is enough.
Here’s the most reliable loot path in Dam Battlegrounds:
Once you’re done looting, head to the nearest extraction point and return to Speranza.

Extraction in ARC Raiders is loud and highly visible. Activating an extraction triggers a distinct meowing sound that alerts nearby players. As a result, most PvP encounters happen around extraction points. Dam Battlegrounds has four extraction locations:
If you spawn into a raid late—around the 15-minute mark—most loot will already be gone. In that case, your best option is to intercept other players near extraction points, especially Swamp Extraction.
Dam Battlegrounds features three major ARC threats: the Leaper, the Rocketeer, and the Queen. Bosses usually spawn near extraction points, with the Queen being the main exception. Always consider your weapon’s ARC Armor Penetration before engaging.
The Leaper is deceptively dangerous. Its jumps cover massive distances, and its shockwave attack can easily down players. Use tight spaces where it can’t follow, target its legs to expose weak points, or aim for its eye. Expect heavy ammo usage—and plenty of noise.
The Rocketeer is the deadliest mini-boss in Dam Battlegrounds. If possible, avoid it entirely. Its rocket barrages are devastating and nearly impossible to dodge. Use cover, wait out its attacks, then target its thrusters. Expect additional ARCs like Wasps and Hornets nearby.
Defeating the Queen takes time, ammo, and ideally a team. She’s usually accompanied by a Rocketeer. Clear minions first, then target glowing weak points. After staggering her, shoot the exposed core. The rewards are excellent, but expect multiple player interruptions.
Grenades are extremely effective against bosses and help conserve ammo. Early-game players should avoid boss encounters whenever possible.
The Queen remains passive unless you activate the Harvester puzzle. The Harvester is located near Red Lakes in the southeast portion of Dam Battlegrounds. A massive turbine structure marks the area.
The turbine operates on a timed cycle. After entering, you’ll hear a signal before flames erupt outward. Electrical discharges may disable shields without damaging health, making it wise to unequip shields beforehand.
Inside, elevators lead to upper platforms where canisters can be extracted. Return each canister to the central core to unlock slots. Once filled, destroy the blinking alarms to open loot containers, which may include weapon blueprints.
After looting, leave immediately—other Raiders will be waiting. And yes, eliminate the Rocketeer before starting the Harvester.

The most efficient route starts at the bottom of the Control Tower, moves through Water Treatment Control, then continues to South Swamp Outpost before finishing at the Hydroponic Dome Complex. From there, extract using either Swamp Extraction or the North Complex Elevator.
The strongest loot locations include Research & Administration, Pale Apartments, the Dam Surveillance Room, Control Tower, Hydroponic Dome Complex, and South Swamp Outpost. These areas offer high-value loot but often come with increased risk.
Focus fire on exposed weak spots such as thrusters, legs, or eyes, depending on the ARC type. Bring plenty of ammo and explosives, as mini-boss fights tend to be long and resource-heavy.
Compared to other maps, it’s somewhat forgiving due to fewer boss encounters and more cover options. However, its smaller layout increases the likelihood of PvP, so new players should still move cautiously.
Swamp Extraction and North Complex Elevator are generally the safest options. They see less player traffic, though hostile ARCs are still commonly present nearby.
