Nocturne Champion Abilities

Umbra Blades

Umbra Blades

Every 14 seconds, Nocturne's next attack strikes all nearby enemies for 20% of his physical damage and restores 15−40 (+15% of ability power) per target hit (depending on level).

Nocturne's attacks reduce this ability's cooldown by 1 second, increased to 3 against champions and jungle monsters.
P
Duskbringer

Duskbringer

Nocturne throws a shadow blade which deals 65 / 110 / 155 / 200 / 245 (+0.75 per bonus attack damage) physical damage, leaves a Dusk Trail, and causes champions who are hit to also leave a Dusk Trail for 5 seconds. While on the trail, Nocturne ignores unit collision and has 15 / 20 / 25 / 30 / 35% increased Movement Speed and 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 / 60 additional Attack Damage.
Q
Shroud of Darkness

Shroud of Darkness

Passive: Nocturne empowers his blades, permanently gaining 30 / 35 / 40 / 45 / 50 % attack speed.

Active: Nocturne creates a magical shield for 1.5 seconds which will block the next enemy spell that hits him. If an ability is blocked by the shield, his passive attack speed is doubled for 5 seconds.

If Shroud of Darkness is active when Nocturne re-casts Paranoia to dash to a target, it'll stay active until Nocturne reaches his target.
W
Unspeakable Horror

Unspeakable Horror

Nocturne plants a nightmare into his target's mind, dealing damage each second for total 80 / 120 / 160 / 200 / 260 (+100% of ability power) over 2 seconds and fearing the target for 1.25 / 1.5 / 1.75 / 2 / 2.25 seconds causing them to run away from Nocturne with impaired movement if they do not get out of (465) range by the end of the duration. Nocturne also gains massively increased movement speed when moving toward feared targets.
E
Paranoia

Paranoia

Nocturne reduces the sight radius of all enemy champions and removes their ally vision for 6 seconds, this includes champions, minions, wards, towers and clairvoyance. He can then launch himself at an enemy champion (2500 / 3250 / 4000 range), dealing 150 / 275 / 400 (+1.2 per bonus attack damage) physical damage.

Nocturne Tips and Tricks

Try to get to level 6 as quickly as possible so you can start impacting the map with your ultimate ability. As an assassin, focus on taking down immobile champions who are alone in side lanes. You can also use your R to catch out champions who are running through the river without any support. When ganking, make sure to get as close to the enemy as you can before casting your R. This ensures they won't escape if they move out of range. Be mindful of deep wards in the enemy jungle that could reveal your position before you engage.

The Best Nocturne Builds, Runes and Items for Jungle

For the most popular build for Nocturne in the jungle, use Flash and Smite as your Summoner Spells. For your runes, choose Conqueror as your keystone and take Triumph, Legend: Alacrity, and Last Stand in the primary tree. In the secondary tree, pick Grisly Mementos and Ultimate Hunter. For rune shards, go for Attack Speed in offense, Adaptive Force in flex, and Health Scaling in defense depending on your matchup. For items, start with Stridebreaker as your first item, followed by Plated Steelcaps and Experimental Hexplate. Then, build Black Cleaver, Sterak's Gage, and finish with Death's Dance. Max your abilities in the order of Q - E - W.

Optional Build

An alternative build option uses Flash and Smite for Summoner Spells as well. For runes, go with Lethal Tempo as your keystone and take Triumph, Legend: Alacrity, and Last Stand in the primary tree. In the secondary tree, choose Grisly Mementos and Ultimate Hunter. The rune shards remain the same as the primary build: Attack Speed, Adaptive Force, and Health Scaling. For items, start with Stridebreaker, then build Plated Steelcaps, followed by Experimental Hexplate. After that, build Black Cleaver, Sterak's Gage, and finish with Guardian Angel. Max your abilities in the order of Q - E - W.

Alternative Build

Another alternative build focuses on starting with Experimental Hexplate, followed by Plated Steelcaps, and then Stridebreaker. The rest of the item build includes Black Cleaver, Sterak's Gage, and Guardian Angel. The rune setup stays the same with Conqueror, Triumph, Legend: Alacrity, Last Stand, Grisly Mementos, and Ultimate Hunter. For the skill order, continue with Q - E - W.

Off-Meta Build

If you're looking for an off-meta approach, try Flash and Smite as your Summoner Spells. For runes, use Press the Attack as your keystone, and take Triumph, Legend: Alacrity, and Coup de Grace in the primary tree. The secondary tree should still include Grisly Mementos and Ultimate Hunter. Use Attack Speed, Adaptive Force, and Health Scaling as your rune shards. For items, start with Stridebreaker, followed by Mercury's Treads, and Experimental Hexplate. The remaining items should include Black Cleaver, Death's Dance, and Eclipse. As always, max your abilities in the order of Q - E - W.

Situational Nocturne Runes and Items

Depending on the situation, you might need to adapt your build to the context of the game, your matchup, or the enemy team. If you're up against champions with heavy magic damage, consider adding Magic Resist runes or items like Banshee's Veil. Alternatively, if you're facing heavy physical damage, Armor items like Thornmail can help. Consider adjusting your rune shards for Armor or Magic Resist based on your specific opponent and situation.
