No one enjoys dealing with contaminated water, so it’s best to take action as soon as you learn the supply has been tainted in Arc Raiders. The Source of the Contamination quest tasks you with identifying what’s causing the problem. While it might sound straightforward at first, pinpointing the exact location of the issue can be a bit more confusing than expected. Below, Gamer Choice will walk you through where to find the Flood Spill Intake on the Dam Battlegrounds map and how to resolve the situation.
Keep in mind that you don’t need to extract with any items to finish this quest. All you’re required to do is reach the location listed below and interact with a specific object. Because of that, it’s a smart move to bring along a free loadout so you’re not putting any valuable gear at risk while exploring the area.
The Water Treatment Center is located slightly to the left of the center of the Dam Battlegrounds map. This point of interest is frequently visited by raiders looking to loot or engage in fights, so things can get hectic here. If you’re hoping to avoid unnecessary encounters, approaching from the swamp side is usually your best option. This route also works well since the Flood Spill Intake is located on the outside of the POI.
The Flood Spill Intake itself sits on the northern side of the Water Treatment Center, facing toward the swamp. As you get closer, it should be fairly easy to recognize.
You’ll know you’re in the correct location once you spot concrete walls holding in polluted water. After confirming you’re in the right place, carefully make your way down into the murky water below.
Once you’re in the water, you’ll find a barrel sitting there, which turns out to be the source of the contamination you’re investigating. Interact with this suspicious object to neutralize it, and doing so will immediately complete the quest.
Afterward, you can exit the raid using the Central Swamp Lift located to the north. That said, since you’re already in the area, it’s a good opportunity to explore the surrounding swamp structures for loot or keep an eye out for mushrooms. Mushrooms grow on trees throughout this region, and you’ll need at least twelve of them to fully complete Scrappy’s upgrades back in Speranza. They’re relatively rare, so picking them up whenever you can is highly recommended.
Up next, you’ll be tackling a quest called Switching the Supply. You can also browse Gamer Choice’s full Arc Raiders quest list to see everything else you’ll need to complete while venturing topside.
