Delves return in WoW Midnight with a full lineup of 10 new instances, an updated companion in Valyira Sanguinar, and a complete seasonal progression system packed with rewards. Whether your goal is to farm gear, power-level Valyira, generate gold, or simply complete your weekly bountiful runs as efficiently as possible, choosing the right delve matters more than ever. Some delves can be cleared in barely over a minute under optimal conditions, while others are slowed down by awkward layouts, tedious mechanics, or frustrating bugs.
This tier list ranks every Midnight delve from best to worst based on solo clear speed, ease of execution, and overall farming efficiency.

Midnight introduces 10 new delves across Quel'Thalas, Zul'Aman, Harandar, and Voidstorm. Each delve rotates between three story variants daily, and these variants can drastically impact clear speed and difficulty.
Your companion Valyira Sanguinar replaces Brann and can function as a tank, healer, or DPS. As she levels up, your runs become significantly smoother and faster.
The currency system has also changed — coffer keys are now converted into shards (600 weekly cap, 100 shards per key). Meanwhile, the Delver’s Journey seasonal track offers progression rewards like mounts, cosmetics, buffs, blessings, and eventually Tier 11 hero-track gear from bountiful coffers.
Some delves allow mounts, others provide powerful NPC allies, and some include overpowered mechanics like bombs or interactables. The difference in efficiency between delves is massive — choosing correctly can cut your farming time in half or more.
Below is a full ranking of all delves and their variants based on average completion time, map design, bonus mechanics, and consistency across gear levels.
Zone: Quel'Thalas (Silvermoon City entrance)
Best Variant: Ogre Powered (S Rank)
Mountable: No
Release Date: March 24th (delayed)
The Darkway’s Ogre Powered variant stands alone at the top. It is the fastest delve route available in Season 1. The layout is extremely compact, objectives are straightforward, and the mechanics allow you to tear through enemies at unmatched speed.
If this variant is active, it should be your priority. However, the Leyline Technician variant is ranked F-tier, so always verify the active story before entering.
Zone: Quel'Thalas (Silvermoon City)
Best Variant: Invasive Glow (~1:13 clear)
Mountable: Yes
Other Variants: Academy Under Siege (D), Faculty of Fear (D)
Collegiate Calamity is one of the most efficient farming delves in Midnight. The entire instance takes place in a very small area, with the boss reachable within seconds.
All variants include friendly NPCs that apply massive damage amplification debuffs to the boss (up to 80%+), allowing it to melt in under 30 seconds even at Tier 11.
The Invasive Glow variant is especially powerful. It gives you access to a bomb with a short cooldown that scales with delve tier. At higher tiers, this bomb accounts for roughly 90% of your total damage output.
By weaving the bomb into your rotation, you can instantly delete packs. Combined with Valyira’s healer spec (which provides 10% leech), bombing groups can fully heal you instantly.
Even weaker variants remain relatively fast due to the compact map and NPC support. Academy Under Siege also includes powerful interactables — some items deal over 860K damage in a single use.
This delve is one of the best for farming Valyira XP, gold (petrified roots ~1,400g), warbound gear, and undercoin.
Zone: Harandar
Best Variant: Sporasaur Special (~1:11 clear, BUG)
Mountable: No
Other Variants: Descent of the Haranir (C), Alnmoth Munchies (B)
Sporasaur Special offers the fastest raw completion time on this list at around 1 minute 11 seconds. The mechanic revolves around kicking spores back at enemies, dealing massive gear-independent damage.
This means even low-geared characters can perform nearly as efficiently as fully geared ones.
Bind your interact key and spam it while grouping enemies to maximize spore efficiency. Environmental tools like mushroom launchers and vines allow for fast skips and instant kills.
This delve is excellent for leveling Valyira on alts. Run her as healer for survivability and switch to DPS for the boss.
Note: This variant currently has an active bug.
Zone: Voidstorm
Best Variants: Core of the Problem (B), Focusers Under Pressure (B)
Mountable: No
Other Variants: The Gravitational Effect (C, BUG), Not What I Expected (D)
Sunkiller Sanctum offers solid consistency with two B-tier variants. While not exceptionally fast, it avoids the major drawbacks seen in lower-tier delves.
The layout is manageable and objectives are straightforward, making it a safe fallback when better options are unavailable.
Zone: Quel'Thalas (Isle of Quel'Danas)
Best Variant: Holding the Line
Mountable: Yes
Release Date: March 31st
Other Variants: Bombing Run (F), March of the Arcane Brigade (F)
This delve is highly dependent on its active variant. Holding the Line provides solid performance, but the other two variants are among the worst in the game.
Because of this, Parhelion Plaza is only worth running when the correct variant is active.
Zone: Zul'Aman
Best Variant: Party Crasher (BUG)
Mountable: No
Other Variants: Trapped! (D, BUG), Loosed Loa (F, BUG)
All variants of Twilight Crypts currently suffer from bugs. Party Crasher is the only viable option, but issues like combat lockouts and pathing problems can occur.
Proceed carefully until fixes are implemented.
Zone: Zul'Aman
Best Variants: Totem Annihilation (C), Toadly Unbecoming (C, BUG)
Mountable: Yes
Other Variant: Ritual Interrupted (F)
Mounting helps offset Atal'Aman’s otherwise average performance. While consistent, it never excels in speed.
Ritual Interrupted is a clear avoid.
Zone: Voidstorm
Best Variant: Calamitous (C)
Mountable: Yes
Other Variants: Capture Wildlife (F), Stolen Mana (D)
This delve gained attention early for gold farming due to high humanoid density. Pairing tailoring and enchanting increases efficiency significantly.
However, persistent combat bugs and a large map layout reduce its effectiveness for speed farming.
Zone: Harandar
Best Variant: Arena Champion (C)
Mountable: Yes
Other Variants: Dastardly Rotstalk (D), Lightbloom Invasion (F)
This delve is excellent for Valyira XP farming due to its compact design. Players can repeatedly collect curiosities with minimal combat.
However, for full clears, it falls behind due to slow pacing and limited mobility in the arena layout.
Zone: Quel'Thalas (Eversong Woods)
Best Variant: Traitor’s Due (C)
Mountable: No
Other Variants: Shadowy Supplies (F, BUG), Mirror Shine (F)
This is one of the weakest delves overall. The best variant only reaches C-tier, while others are slow or bugged.
Mirror Shine exceeds 2 minutes even on optimized runs, making it one of the slowest options.

Some variants are simply inefficient or frustrating. These fall into D or F tiers.
Slow but Completable
Skip If Possible
If these are active bountiful delves, consider waiting for a better rotation instead of wasting time on inefficient runs.
Her healer specialization grants 10% leech, avoidance, and movement speed. Combined with mechanics like bombs, this allows instant healing during combat.
Completing the weekly quest unlocks a powerful trinket whose damage effect works inside Voidstorm delves, significantly improving clear speed.
Humanoid-heavy delves drop cloth and gear ideal for disenchanting. Dawn Crystals can sell for 6,000–7,000 gold early in the season.
The Grudge Pit allows players to collect curiosities without fighting. Reset runs repeatedly to gain up to 5 levels per hour.
If the best variant isn’t available, it will return soon. Use addons to track rotations and optimize your runs.
Defeating nemesis packs upgrades your final chest. At Tier 11, clearing all packs guarantees an epic chest with valuable rewards like Petrified Roots, gear, and cosmetics.
Choosing the right delve — and the right variant — is the difference between slow grinding and highly efficient farming. Focus on top-tier options whenever possible to maximize your rewards per hour.
